WWTP – Kubratovo
Reconstruction, modernization and upgrading of WWTP – Kubratovo of Sofia municipality"
(under FIDIC Yellow Book Conditions of Contract)
The project includes:
- Construction of an anaerobic ammonium oxidation plant (Annamox installation) to reduce the high ammonia content in the sedimentary waters from dewatering of the stabilized sludge. The Annamox reactor is the first of a kind facility in Bulgaria;
- A thermal sludge hydrolysis plant for additional sludge treatment, which sterilizes sludge in the form of a liquid and stabilizing them by steam, helps to increase the production of biogas in methanetanks, which is used to produce electricity for WWTP. The thermal hydrolysis plant of the sediment is the first on the Balkan Peninsula.
